A cheap and easy meal idea that kids love using just a few simple ingredients.
Sloppy Joe Cups are a fun and mess free way to enjoy a classic recipe. Using a few cheap ingredients like crescent roll dough, ground beef, sloppy joe sauce, and cheese, you can make a delicious meal your family is sure to love. My kids love hand held food and gobble this ground beef recipe up every time I make it. Add your favorite veggies as a side and you have a well balanced meal that your whole family will love.
This recipe could not be any easier to make. If you’ve got 10 minutes then you can create this scrumptious meal even your pickiest eater will love. This is my go to recipe on busy nights. Sloppy Joe Cups can even be made ahead of time and simply warmed up at dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 cans Pillsbury crescent roll dough
- 6 slices of cheese (use your favorite kind!)
- 1 can sloppy joe sauce
- 1 red bell pepper (optional)
How To Make Sloppy Joe Cups
1. Cook ground beef for about 10 minutes or until no longer pink. Make sure to break up the ground beef while it’s cooking so that it’s nice and crumbly. Chop and add the bell pepper to the pan when the ground beef is almost cooked. Continue to sauté for 5 minutes to soften the bell peppers. This is completely optional but adding the peppers is a great way to hide some veggies from picky eaters!
2. Open the can of sloppy joe sauce and add it into the ground beef/pepper mixture. Heat until warm then remove from heat.
3. While the ground beef is cooking, open the crescent roll dough cans and gently roll out dough into a rectangle-ish shape. Use a sharpe knife or pizza cutter to cut the dough into 8 equal pieces. Repeat for the 2nd can of dough.
This will give you 16 crescent dough squares. Muffin tins are generally only have 12 cups SO…. you can save the dough for later, or make 2 batches. You should have plenty of meat!
4. Grease a 12 count muffin tin (super important or your dough will stick) and put 1 crescent square into each muffin cup.
5. Cut each cheese slice into 4 pieces. Put 1 cheese piece into the bottom of each dough square. Add a scoop of the sloppy joe meat mixture, and top with an additional piece of cheese. The sloppy joe cups are ready to bake!
6. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown. Watch it carefully because the edges of the dough can get crispy pretty fast! Let cool for a couple of minutes then use a spoon to scoop out each cheesy Sloppy Joe Cup. ENJOY!
Handheld Sloppy Joe Cups are perfect snacks for kids too. Try having some ready for after school snacks or sleepovers. Your kids are going to beg for more!
