Pipe cleaner snails are a great way to keep your kids busy when they’re bored, and they can be used in make believe games, decorations in fairy gardens or simply as cute trinkets around the house. Either way, your kids are going to love making this adorable snail craft!

Supplies Needed
- 3 Pipe Cleaners (2 of the same color and 1 a different color)
- Googly eyes (I like these self adhesive ones!)
- Pencil or pen
How To Make Pipe Cleaner Snails
Step 1: Begin with 2 of the same color pipe cleaners. Curl the top of each pipe cleaner like a spiral 2 to 3 times. This is where the eyes will go! Then twist the pipe cleaners together about 2 inches from the top and twist them all the way down.
Step 2: Find a pen or pencil and tightly wrap the final pipe cleaner around it. Slide your curled pipe cleaner off the end of the pencil.
Step 3: Slide the wrapped pipe cleaner from step 2 onto the end of the pipe cleaners from step 1 up to spot where the two pipe cleaners are twisted together {see picture below}.
Step 4: Tightly curl the end of the pipe cleaner into a spiral. This is the snail’s shell!
Step 5: Add your googly eyes and your adorable pipe cleaner snail is ready!
My kids and I made a ton of these fuzzy snails in all different colors. Even my 4 year old was able to do this simple craft on her own! She was so proud of herself. I love that this is a budget friendly craft that keeps kids engaged and promotes their imagination. My kids are still playing with their snails everyday.
If you’d like to help your snail stand up more easily, grab a green pipe cleaner and bend it back and forth to make a base that looks like grass. You can glue your snail onto the grass base if you’d like or simply set it on there during playtime. Just another quick and easy idea to make playtime even better!
