How to Make This Rainbow Cloud Craft
Step 1 You will need 6 colored popsicle sticks and 1 plain wooden popsicle stick for this fun craft. Line up the popsicle sticks in reverse rainbow color order (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red). Make sure they are all touching. Then hot glue the plain popsicle stick diagonally across to keep everything together.
Step 2 Use this cloud outline or simply cut a cloud shape out of card stock paper. Glue 2 googly eyes to the cloud. Add a smile with a black markers. For a fun added touch, you can glue pink buttons to the top of the smile to create rosy cheeks!
Step 3 Turn the glued popsicle sticks over so that the diagonal stick is on the back. Add a small line of glue to the top of the popsicle sticks and glue the cloud into place. Allow to dry fully before handling.

How To Color Popsicle Sticks
If you have an abundance of plain wood colored popsicle sticks and don’t want to buy more for this project, you have a few options! Have your kids paint or use markers to color the individual sticks. You can also try to dye wooden popsicle sticks at home using vinegar and food coloring. Simply add your popsicle stick to a bowl, cover it with vinegar and add a few drops of food coloring. The wooden popsicle stick should soak up the color! Make sure to dry the popsicle sticks completely before using in any craft project.
Helpful Tips
- I used hot glue to glue the popsicle sticks together so that it dried quickly. If you dont have a hot glue gun, that ok! Use liquid glue to stick the diagonal popsicle stick in place. You will need to allow the glue to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
- Adding buttons are a fun touch to this simple art project. Any color button will work or you can simply use markers to create the cheeks.
- Add a ribbon to the back of the cloud and hang these pretty popsicle stick rainbows on your windows or doors. You can even give them as gifts to brighten someone’s day!
